Lithium Bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide, LiTFSI

Lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (often simply referred to as LiTFSI), chemical formula (CF3SO2)2NLi, formula weight 287.08, appears to be white crystal or powder, with its density 1.33 g/cm3, melting point 236 °C (457°F; 509K). It is highly soluble in water. Its decomposition point is as high as 370 degrees Celsius; it has excellent chemical stability at high temperature and it will not produce HF even in contact with water; it can significantly reduce the risk of decomposition of the electrolyte at high temperature, even if being simply used as an additive.

Applications:

-In the secondary lithium-ion battery field, it can be used as an additive together with LiPF6-based electrolyte, as well as being the main ingredient for LFP and ternary NMC/NCA electrolytes to enhance their conductivity, safety and life cycle.

-For lithium-ion polymer battery, it has good effect on improving safety performance of the battery. It also can adapt to ultra-thin and diversified requirements.

-For high performance primary lithium battery, it gives significantly better performance in safety, capacity and performance at wide temperatures than the traditional lithium battery using LiClO4.

-Used as catalyst in chemical synthesis.
